Writing an endorsement can take a lot of effort and headspace, even when you genuinely wish to help someone or a cause.
So how is it that so many high-profile and time-poor people seem to endorse so many things, particularly those in office?
Well the key is to provide the person with a template of an endorsement that they can modify, or provide examples of endorsements which embody the key message you’d like to express.
A template provides them with something to build on, and it also highlights the key points you’d like to have referenced in the endorsement.
Keep in mind that the person providing the endorsement must still be comfortable with your proposal in order for them to put their name to it, but providing a template to modify is a much easier request than providing a blank canvas.
So the next time you seek an endorsement or testimonial from someone, can you provide them with a starting point to make it easier for them?
