Many of us only engage an accountant at tax time. But forming a relationship with an accountant is one of the best things you can do for your future.
You may not think you need an accountant because you’re happy with your current job and don’t see yourself having more than one income.
But an accountant will help you optimise your current and projected finances. Their financial knowledge is likely greater than yours, plus they’ll have a network of referral partners for specialty matters.
An accountant will also help you prepare for the major transitions in your future, like being with a partner, having kids, buying property or dealing with the estates of your family.
And for anyone that wants to launch a business, finding a great accountant is my first piece of advice. A trusted accountant is someone you’ll need in your corner regardless of the business you create, and working alongside them can be one of the most fulfilling relationships you have in life.
Now, while you may like this idea, you may be hesitant to find an accountant because their costs seem high (particularly if you only engage them for your tax). But if you find the right accountant, the long-term benefits will outweigh your costs.
