Your attention please

There are two things to keep in mind when you’re trying to get someone’s attention.  

  1. They usually don’t have context for what you’re about to share. 
  2. They are actively trying to disconnect because there is so much competition for their attention. 

This isn’t meant to discourage. 

Nor does it mean that what you want to share isn’t valuable. 

It means you always need to quickly give them a reason to care and then speak directly to their self-interest.
