We frequently comment on how quickly time is passing, but never in a good way.
For instance, have you had the conversation yet where someone asked where January went?
Or maybe you’ve seen chocolate eggs in the shops and wondered, “Is it Easter already”?
This post isn’t meant to shock.
Quite the opposite, in fact.
I want to make the case that time marching on is a good thing.
If we had infinite time, would we actually get around to doing what we want to do?
Think of all the great things you’ve done because a deadline was involved. If time wasn’t a factor, would you have had those experiences?
Much of the time, we act like we have infinite time, until we suddenly bump into a milestone or an event which inspires us to action.
So while it’s not really a pleasant thought to consider the clock is always going, this doesn’t mean the clock is against us.
Indeed, it may be working for us.
