Conversations at social gatherings often begin with someone asking, “So what do you do?”
How do you normally respond?
My guess is with your occupation or your field of study.
“I’m a baker.”
With this response, the occupation is framed as a noun. It’s not what you actually do.
A more powerful question is, “So what value do you create?”
How would you respond now?
“I prepare the most amazing fresh bread so that customers can have a wonderful start to their day!”
Shift your perspective towards value, and you’ll have a lot more clarity and fulfilment about what you are doing (or want to be doing) in life.
