If you have a poor manager, this is a sign that your company is not investing in management training sufficiently.
Why is this important?
Because if you want to advance in this company, then you ALSO won’t receive adequate support when you take on leadership positions.
Being a great manager requires a completely different skillset that should be supported with coaching and training.
You may be tolerating a poor manager right now but think that you won’t be a poor manager when you get the opportunity.
Well guess what?
Your manager probably had the same thoughts when they were in your position.
The key is preparing yourself to be a manager BEFORE you become one (and obviously continuing with coaching once you get the gig).
So if the managers in your company aren’t great, don’t rely on your company giving you the coaching to thrive when the time comes.
