Studying to be a CFA Charterholder shows ambition.
But don’t mistake it for a golden ticket now.
I’ve coached a lot of financial professionals over the years.
One thing I often see is this belief that studying for the CFA will help their immediate job prospects.
In my view, that’s a mistake.
Sure, it shows positive intent.
But until you get the 3 magic letters, most hiring managers won’t see it as a serious differentiator (especially those who know how few actually finish).
I would say this goes for other forms of long-term study too (like Masters degrees and industry qualifications).
Basically, long-term study is a long-game.
It can be a great investment in your future career, but don’t expect it to open doors for your current career.
