Yesterday’s Opinion Dominion asked:
Is loyalty to a company overrated?
75% said YES
25% said NO
I said YES, because loyalty is often talked about but it’s not the factor that’s actually rewarded in your career.
Many professionals have approached me for coaching because they stayed loyal, kept their heads down and assumed their value would be recognised.
But unfortunately, they were passed over, underpaid or overlooked, and then were left wondering what to do next.
That doesn’t mean loyalty has no place.
Just don’t stick around if you’re doing it out of obligation, fear of change or if you’re “doing your time”.
