Committing to a change in your life requires taking action. And the easiest way to take action is to identify an immediate next step, and then do it.
You don’t need to have it all figured out before you begin. You just need to have a clear objective, such that an immediate next step can be taken. And telling someone that you’re going to take action, isn’t action. The immediate next step needs to demonstrate your new commitment.
If you commit to running a marathon, the immediate next step could be putting your running shoes on in the morning.
If you commit to pursuing a promotion, the immediate next step could be meeting with a trusted colleague to understand what’s required.
If you commit to getting on top of your finances, the immediate next step could be going through your bank statements.
So when you commit to a change, be sure to ask yourself – “What’s the immediate next step?”
