When someone comes to us with a goal they want to achieve, we first want to understand the story behind their motivation.
For many, this story has become a big part of their identity, and they feel that achieving this goal is an important part of who they are.
But when you start unpacking that story, you may discover that it originated from others, which makes you question whether it’s something you ever really wanted. It can also explain why you’ve been holding onto the motivation for so long, but are yet to take meaningful action.
Just because you’ve had a goal for a long time, doesn’t mean that you truly want to achieve it.
If you discover that your story is someone else’s, one of the best things you can do is let go of that story and start telling your own.
