Yesterday’s Opinion Dominion is courtesy of SXSW Sydney:
If you could LIVE FOREVER in good health, would you?
56% went YES.
44% went NO.
I went yes, and really it was for one reason.
I think that if most people were confronted with the immediate prospect of death, and they had the option to kick the can down the road (with good health), they would.
And then all of these short-term, immediate decisions will add up overtime to an indefinite life span.
I appreciate this creates some pretty big problems.
But I also think that humanity will rise to solve these problems.
And as to whether this should morally be an option?
I don’t know.
But since we’re in the Opinion Dominion, I’d probably say that as a species we’re already demonstrating an affinity for extending our life spans.
So like most things, it doesn’t come down to what we think.
It comes down to what we do.
Heavy stuff huh?
Ready for another from SXSW Sydney?
