We all like the thought of trying new things and being spontaneous. But when it comes to taking action, resistance tends to creep in.
Some of this is due to not knowing what we’d be committing to. We don’t like saying yes if we don’t know all we are saying yes to, and we especially don’t like letting others down if we set expectations.
A great way to reduce this resistance is to approach every new experience in your life as a “10 minute party”.
For 10 minutes, give yourself entirely to the experience. This could be research, or discussion, or action! Remove all self-limiting beliefs and assumptions around what the experience should be or shouldn’t be. Simply throw yourself into the unknown with a timer and see how it goes!
10 minutes is a decent amount of time to get a sense of what the full experience could be like, but you can change the time depending on the experience you’d like to try. And then once the commitment is set, make sure you enjoy the party!
