1999 piece puzzle

Bec and I completed a 1999 piece puzzle this week. But the box says it has 2000 pieces, so there’s one piece missing.

I’m really happy that we finished a 1999 piece puzzle. Bec however feels unsatisfied that we haven’t finished a 2000 piece puzzle.

We purchased the puzzle at a clearance sale for $5, but it’s selling online for $50.

So here’s the question.

If we bought the puzzle again for $50, are we paying $50 for one puzzle piece, or are we paying $50 for the satisfaction of a complete puzzle?
