The first workout after a break is always a grind.
Movements that used to feel so natural now feel so foreign.
But the sensations grow more familiar with every repetition.
Lungs that were starved of oxygen grow more comfortable with each breath.
The only thing that doesn’t relent is gravity, growing more intense with every set.
But you always find a way to escape its pull.
And just when you’ve fought your way to gain a semblance of control over your body, the session abruptly ends. And the control vanishes.
You’re left a little dazed. Heavy breath. Wet with sweat.
You haven’t felt pain in a while, and there’s a lot of it.
But there’s another feeling amongst the pain which you’re glad has returned too.
Satisfaction.
It’s faint, but it’s there.
The next session will be hard too. But you’ll be back. And right now, the first session is done.
