Calorie torpedoes

Overall, I believe our normal diets are pretty healthy, and that we can all do a good job at preparing nutritious meals.

So when people approach me for help about losing weight, I don’t start by asking them to map out a diet plan or count their calories.

I simply ask them to identify the torpedoes they’re dropping in their diet that are blowing up their calories.

These are the after-work drinks with chips and beer.

These are the nights where you prepare a dinner with lots of vegetables but then finish a tub of ice cream for dessert.

These are the times when you add a banana bread to your morning coffee order.

If you are thinking about improving your diet, try to identify the one action you’re taking each day that is adding the most calories. If you remove these singular torpedoes, you’ll be well on your way to a healthier lifestyle.
