Catastrophising

When something goes wrong, it can be easy to let your imagination run wild.

You start thinking about the consequences, and then they compound into scenarios beyond the realms of reality.

Not only does catastrophising prevent you from solving the actual problem, it takes a lot of energy and headspace to entertain imaginary scenarios.

So when you find yourself catastrophising, focus first on disrupting the negative thoughts. Try changing your state or your environment. It’s only when you resolve the imaginary problem that you can address the real problem.
