Changing your state

Even though I’ve been working from home since 2019, I still get caught in poor work habits. 

I think that a midday nap is needed, but then I get stuck in bed scrolling my phone.

Or I get Amie ready for her day but then faff about getting ready for my own. 

Or I have a meeting that ends at 3pm and reason that’s a good time to play games. 

Each distraction can quickly reinforce a poor state, and I find it hard to push myself out of that state on sheer will and motivation alone. 

But I’ve found the easiest way to get out of a funk is to shift my surroundings. 

Removing the distraction and exposing myself to new stimuli does wonders for my energy, and allows me to focus on what needs to get done. 

So to change your state, change your environment.
