Here’s a good technique for considering the culture you want to foster in your team or organisation.

What would happen if 10 people suddenly joined your team?

You may find it easier to explain your culture to one new person joining the team. 

But when you think about your culture at scale, it forces you to consider which parts of your culture are enduring and what’s really needed to promote desired behaviours. 

If 10 people join at once, how would you effectively communicate to them all the unwritten rules that people follow?

How would you inspire these 10 people to adopt shared behaviours when it’s not practical to talk to them one-on-one?

What should you be doing with your current team that you’re currently not doing?

And what existing dynamics would shift with the current team if 10 people suddenly joined?
