Does Working From Home HURT your career growth?

Yesterday’s Opinion Dominion (Careers Edition) asked:

Does working from home hurt your career growth?

Does Working From Home HURT your career growth?

Half said yes.

Half said no.

This surprised me, but I guess this reflects why the debate is so mainstream.

Some people shared that WFH has opened up opportunities they wouldn’t otherwise have, especially those juggling care, health or location constraints.

Others said they’re doing their best work at home, without the distractions of an office.

But others admitted WFH comes at a cost. There can be less visibility, weaker relationships and fewer spontaneous moments that used to lead to progress.

That’s been my experience.

I chose remote work and I love it. But I do have to work harder to feel connected.
