Don’t end with admin

This gem is courtesy of Priya Parker and the Art of Gathering.

When you present or host an event, it’s very tempting to leave the audience with housekeeping details like:

  • Remember to redeem your parking
  • Don’t forget to check your inbox tomorrow morning
  • The bus will collect you at midnight.

There are 3 key moments your audience or guests will remember:

  1. The start
  2. The climax
  3. The end

And the end is the most powerful, because that’s the last thing they leave with.

Virtually anything admin-related can be communicated at a different time and way to your audience.

Instead, use that sacred moment to leave a lasting impression on your guests.

Tie a beautiful bow around the proceedings, and release them with a wonderful connection to you and the experience.

It’s hard to do, because we feel it’s our responsibility to communicate important details.

But it’s way more powerful if you can craft a memorable ending.
