From our time working on leadership programs together, Bec and I found that a lot of people would come to us about whether their idea would work or not.
Most of the time, the idea is well thought out and our input isn’t actually required. Had they tried their idea without going through us it would have a really good chance of succeeding.
What they were really asking for is validation and permission to take action. And in response we found ourselves constantly giving encouragement rather than providing feedback.
Having realised this, Bec and I now have a fun expression whenever we approach each other with a well thought out idea: “Go Bec Go!” or “Go Ben Go!”. Feedback is of course desired, but the main thing we want to receive is energy to go for it.
So if you’ve got an idea you really want to try, here is your encouragement to make it happen.
Go for it!
