I’m seeing more people use the term Healthspan over Lifespan, and I for one am all for it.
Life has traditionally been viewed chronologically, where certain events or aspirations are defined by age or stages of life.
The problem with this viewpoint is that we’ll wait for arbitrary milestones in order to do something, but then not fully enjoy it because of reduced physical, mental or spiritual capacity.
Viewing life as a healthspan has two benefits.
The more apparent one is to prioritise events around well being, which promotes living more in the moment.
The less apparent one is that it encourages you to maintain (and even improve) your health, instead of the rather stubborn assumption that it deteriorates overtime.
So the key question is, how can you improve your healthspan (which in turn can improve your lifespan)?
