Growth is front-of-mind for many business owners, but many struggle with defining how they want to grow.
They’re either juggling lots of ideas and not sure which strategy to choose. Or they may be feeling restricted and can’t see viable options.
During these times coaching business owners I find the following thought exercise really helpful:
“Alright, let’s say you suddenly have one million dollars to spend. What would you do with it?”
This thought exercise brings into sharp focus what they would do with their business if there weren’t any restrictions.
If their answer is vague, it encourages further reflection on their strategy. But if their answer is clear and considered, it encourages them to take action.
This example was framed in a business context, but the concept of removing restrictions is helpful for any venture in your life – What would you do if your schedule was cleared? What would happen if you connected with the right person? What would you do if you won Division 3 in the lottery? Etc.
