Sometimes people have what they think is a singular need, when actually they have multiple needs.
Here are two examples from recent coaching conversations I’ve had:
I want to be a specialist physio and run my own clinic.
I want to work fully remotely in the media industry.
Before going after opportunities with these criteria, it’s helpful to consider each need in isolation.

What would it mean if you were a highly specialised physio but remained an employee?
What would it mean if you ran a clinic with lots of physios but you didn’t perform any services?
—
What would it mean if you were doing the same job you’re doing now but fully remotely?
What would it mean if you got your dream job in media but it meant you had to go into work every day?

This simple exercise has resulted in lots of breakthroughs to help people realise what they really want.
