What is our default response when asked, “How are you?”
Good.
A generic word that has little meaning when expressed verbally. But non-verbally, you could be saying volumes.
If you feel like there could be more behind that word, there’s a lighter way of digging just a little deeper.
Follow up by simply asking, “And how are you, other than good?”.
It’s a non-threatening invitation to go one level deeper, which can easily be accepted or declined.
