I sometimes think my biggest job as a career coach is helping people realise they can achieve what they want much more quickly than they think they can.
We typically overweight our expectations for how long something will take for a number of reasons.
We can lack awareness about the process, though once we know how to achieve it the timeline appears much more manageable.
We may have tried something but it didn’t work, and then we allowed this attempt to adversely affect our motivation to pursue other possibilities.
Or we could simply be holding onto a desire to achieve something, and we just need the permission from someone to go after it.
If you have a goal right now, how long do you think it will take to achieve it?
If you think it will take weeks, could it be done in days?
If you think it will take months, could it be done in weeks?
If you think it will take years, could it be done in months?
