Our good intentions can sometimes lead to making a decision on behalf of another person which they would rather have made.
A good example of this is withholding information from someone because we’ve made certain assumptions.
For Bec, she’s found that people will sometimes not reach out with an opportunity because they assume her schedule is quite full and she may not have capacity.
While this may be the case in some situations, she’d rather know about the opportunity and make the choice, rather than not hear at all.
If a person will benefit from having agency over a decision, share the relevant information rather than choose for them.
