We all have a certain level of attachment to any organisation we’re involved with.
For some of us, loyalty is such a strong value in our lives that we unduly bias our decisions to always put the organisation above ourselves.
We don’t want to let our colleagues down.
We want our managers to see us as loyal and expect they hold the same value.
We don’t want to be seen as someone who constantly switches teams.
To achieve great things, you need to commit to others and they need to commit to you in pursuit of a shared objective.
But when there is a breakdown in this relationship, or when you can make a greater impact elsewhere, it’s important to consider what value you’re receiving for the loyalty you’re providing.
