Name clearly, not creatively

When naming a new business or initiative, go for clarity over creativity.

Your initiative will be much more valuable if people can grasp what you do easily. A clear name makes it easier for the right people to find you, and requires less energy to promote its value.

Creative names are usually vague and make people work harder to understand what the venture does.

Don’t be afraid to directly reference what is being provided in the name itself. In fact, I would encourage it.

This is particularly important in the early days of your venture to reach the people that need you most.

And if you’re worried about a name being too specific that it will limit your potential to expand, it’s best to consider a re-positioning once you really understand the market that you’ve grown to serve.
