It’s hard to not view life as a relative game sometimes.
With career coaching, many conversations are based around a sense that “I should be in a certain role or at a certain level at this point of my career”.
We look at other people our age or with the same professional experience and measure ourselves accordingly.
The problem with this framing is it’s based on what other people have rather than what we actually want.
It’s helpful to appreciate that everyone’s career path is different and every path isn’t predefined.
At any time you can make a choice that will set you in a different direction.
The key is making sure these choices are your own.
