A team will improve its performance a lot when its members act in harmony.
Yet it’s amazing how many workforces do not have a shared vision or objective amongst its members – and don’t even realise.
To test this with your team at work, try this simple exercise.
Have each team member write down what they think the team’s objective is, and then compare results.
The team will learn a lot by hearing the different responses.
And if your team isn’t ready for this transparency, it’s a great thought exercise for you to do, either as a leader or as a team member.
If your team isn’t on the same page in either scenario, then the team must be made aware of its guiding objective. This objective must then be made visible and constantly reinforced.
