Life is more fun with a sense of accomplishment. It’s incredibly satisfying going to bed feeling like you’ve achieved something.
But if your days feel deprived of meaning, it could be because they’re too busy or too empty.
Busy days are when you have an ever-expanding to-do list, and the more tasks you cross off the more that appear. Despite how much you’re doing, you’re not feeling accomplished. You feel overwhelmed and on the back foot.
Empty days are when you have things you could do, but no hard deadlines. You may drift from one task to another with no clear progress, and you create gaps in the day with a little too much procrastination.
So rather than feel like you need to do more or do less, try this.
At the start of each day, identify one thing that you want to achieve. This could be minor or it could be major. It just needs to be a singular task that you’re able to complete.
The beauty of this approach is that if you’re able to complete the task early in the day, what you do during the rest of the day is a bonus. And if it takes you all day to do the one task, you’ll still go to bed satisfied because you purposefully applied yourself.
What is the one thing you’ll achieve today?
