Many of us get a credit card because we’re attracted to its rewards.
But the credit card industry can only operate if the costs we pay for them exceed the rewards we receive from them.
This means on average a credit card is a net cost rather than a net benefit.
You may think you’re on the other side of the average, but have you calculated how much you’ve paid in fees and interest payments against the value you’ve received?
I’m not saying you shouldn’t have a credit card. I’m just saying we all have selection bias when it comes to information, and we also like to set-and-forget.
In getting a credit card, are you creating a system that works for you or against you?
