Paying for your own advice

Bec and I have recently engaged a dog trainer, and the best thing they did is tell us what we already know.

We got Maui before the kids were born, and he loved being top dog.

But since having two kids, the social hierarchy needs changing.

Maui loves attention (and I especially love giving it to him), and he gets very vocal if he’s ignored.

Bec and I wanted to ignore him, but we weren’t sure if it would work.

The dog trainer told us to do so, and we did.

All we needed was a green light, and now his barking doesn’t affect us like before (and Maui’s behaviour is moderating).

We don’t care in the slightest that we paid someone to tell us what we wanted to do.

We just care about the result.

You too may already know what’s needed to achieve a desired outcome. But if you’re not achieving it, perhaps there’s value in paying to hear what you already know.
