Progressing after stumbling

I was recently approached by someone who wanted my help to buy a business.

I get very excited by these conversations because many people don’t realise this is possible and instead want to start their own businesses.

The keen entrepreneur shared that they had a poor experience with running their own business a few years ago, and they liked the thought of buying a business because everything was established.

But as the conversation progressed, they kept returning to their prior experience to justify why going into business again at this time wasn’t ideal.

A large part of their identity was clearly defined by having their own business. But because their first step as a business owner didn’t go well, they are now in an indefinite holding pattern to try their passion again.

They ultimately decided against going into business now, but assured me when the time was right they’ll reach out again.

Do you have a passion you want to realise but are holding off from doing so?

Did an earlier stumble warrant the time you’ve waited to try again?

And will it warrant the time you’ll continue to wait?
