Take a moment to consider who’s really in charge of your schedule.
How often do you shift items around for the benefit of others rather than yourself?
How many times have you cancelled your gym session because a request popped up?
How many lunch breaks do you skip each week because someone wants something?
We seem to make time for others easily because we want to appear accommodating.
But if we took a moment to consider the urgency of these requests, we would discover that we aren’t obligated to sacrifice our own pursuits to make them happen.
So consider the pursuits in your life that are really important to you. Define them as non-negotiable time slots in your week. Then when you next receive an external request, do all you can to arrange it outside of these precious hours. You’ll be surprised how easily you can make it happen.
