Rubber balls and glass balls

Bryan Dyson, former CEO of Coca-Cola, gave a speech in 1991 that described life as a juggling act, where each area of your life is represented by a ball.

The key was appreciating that some balls were made of rubber and some balls were made of glass.

If you dropped a rubber ball, it would bounce back, while if you dropped a glass ball, it would damage or break.

The point was if you’re striving for balance in your life, prioritise the glass balls.

This analogy has been widely shared since, though I personally like the version where the balls can change.

Depending on your stage of life, an area can be more glass-like or more rubber-like.

So consider which of your balls in the air right now are made of glass and which ones are made of rubber?
