If your High School was like mine, it had a motto that was in Latin. The motto was on the front of every uniform, but no one knew what it meant.
Isn’t it incredible that you were part of a community for many years that had a guiding principle which no one could explain?
The motto has been used for decades, and while Latin was more common when the motto was originally chosen, I imagine that the language was used to convey a sense of excellence over clarity.
What’s more unfortunate is that while few today can explain what it means, it will be very hard to change.
Starting with the end in mind is important when you’re creating something that will last. When building a community or taking people on a journey, have clear principles and communicate them simply.
