There’s a lot of stuff online which is hard to know what to believe.
Take job hunting for instance.
There’s many tips about how recruiters screen candidates, like:
- Having a professional profile pic matters
- Your social media activity is checked
- Your resume should be formatted in a certain way
I don’t know how true they are (or not) for every recruiter.
But I do like to put myself in their shoes and wonder…
Would I be influenced by a profile pic?
Would I care about resume formatting?
Would checking social media be part of the firm’s process?
I must stress that this isn’t a foolproof approach, and it may be entirely inaccurate and ineffective.
But for me at least, it helps to make decisions (and be more comfortable with them) at times where I’m not sure what to believe.
