Yesterday’s Opinion Dominion question was:
Should you NEGOTIATE a job offer or just ACCEPT it?
85% said NEGOTIATE.
15% said ACCEPT.
I was surprised by how one-sided the responses were.
Which made me think…
How much of this actually plays out in reality?
Because in practice, this is where so many professionals can get stuck.
They don’t want to rock the boat.
They’re worried they’ll come across as difficult.
Or they think they’ll lose the offer altogether.
Here’s my experience from Career Coaching.
Every client I’ve coached who asked a question has had their offer upheld.
Not a single one has had it pulled because they negotiated.
Why?
Because negotiation isn’t about being difficult.
It’s about being intentional.
Before you say yes to anything, treat it like a problem-solving exercise.
🔹 What happens if you shoot the lights out?
🔹 What if you go well beyond expectations?
🔹 How will that be recognised?
These conversations are far easier to have BEFORE you sign than AFTER.
And if the thought of negotiating makes you nervous, that’s okay.
It’s a skill that can be developed.
So if you’re ever wondering whether you should negotiate, there’s not as much harm as you may think.
Plus look at all the people from the poll who are doing so!
