The leadership programs that Bec and I run are created by amazing volunteers.
Everyone involved has a strong connection to the programs and receive a lot of personal satisfaction from facilitating great experiences for others.
But each program takes a lot of work to organise over quite a long period of time, and we want to ensure that everyone’s contribution and enthusiasm are sustained.
So every month we have awards.
Team members are invited to nominate someone who made a particularly special contribution. At the awards, each nomination is recognised, and then one person is selected for being the team member of the month.
These awards are helpful in a number of ways:
- They empower the team members to recognise each other’s efforts.
- The nominees appreciate their efforts were meaningful.
- They demonstrate publicly which actions go above-and-beyond.
- It encourages the team to keep contributing because they know their efforts could mean something to someone.
