At school there was always an answer to a question. Even when you struggled to understand a concept, you knew there was an answer waiting for you at the end of that struggle.
As you’d already know, the big questions in life don’t have simple answers like the questions at school. We’re not guaranteed there is an answer waiting at the end of the struggle. And that can be really hard.
Life is not like school in many ways. And if we apply the same process that we learned at school to these big questions, it will leave us feeling frustrated, lost or disengaged.
The best questions in life are those that actually create more questions. It should come as a good sign, not a defeating sign, when you feel like you’ve figured something out but it’s left you with more questions than answers.
If life was like school, you should get full marks by answering, “I don’t know, but I’m still trying to figure it out”.
The key is to keep opening yourself up to these questions. And with time your understanding will grow.
