This won’t fit

When writing yesterday’s blog about capacity constraints, I attached myself to the following opening:

“Mary Poppins has a magic bag that can endlessly carry anything she needs. We can treat our schedule in much the same way…”

I then tried and tried to come up with a way to close the blog post with another Mary Poppins reference. I pushed hard to make it fit, until realising that this opening didn’t serve the message.

Once I removed the reference, the blog post flowed and the key message shone through.

When working through problems, we can grow overly attached to an element we believe is important but struggle to reach a result. Try removing the element and see how your perspective changes.
