Understanding human connection

Bec and I hosted a leadership workshop yesterday on connection, and the fabulous Jen Young from Intentional Generations was the keynote speaker.

While there was a lot to takeaway from Jen’s presentation, it was great that she started with Brené Brown’s definition of connection, as it helped many people better understand what human connection really looks like:

I define connection as the energy that exists between people when they feel seen, heard, and valued; when they can give and receive without judgment; and when they derive sustenance and strength from the relationship – Brené Brown

This definition is very helpful to not only assess the connections you currently have (and why some feel wonderful while others feel hard), but it’s also a great guide for seeking out and fostering connections that are meaningful to both sides.
