Variations of your email address
Did you know that your one email address can become multiple email addresses?
Let’s use our primary email address for this example: hello@quarterlifeacademy.com
Before the @ symbol, you can add a + and any text you want, like this: hello+anything@quarterlifeacademy.com
All emails sent to this variation address will go to the inbox for hello@quarterlifeacademy.com.
And you can do this in as many different ways as you like, and all the variation emails will go back to your primary inbox.
So why would you want to do this? Well there’s a few reasons.
- If you subscribe to a mailing list with a variation, you can identify the origin of spam emails (or the sharing of your email address without permission).
- You can block emails sent to a variation address, which means you can keep using your primary email address freely.
- It allows you to register multiple accounts with the one email address.
- Variation emails can help you categorise your interests, making it easier to search through your inbox.
This tip may seem a little unconventional, but once you get the hang of it you’ll be surprised how much you’ll use it.
