I live in Sydney, and whenever I catch the train across the Sydney Harbour Bridge, I suspend whatever I’m doing to just sit and take in the moment.
Not just for the spectacular view (I’ve always thought that I’d only leave Sydney once I get tired of seeing the harbour).
But to also appreciate the marvel of visionary planning it represents.
When the Sydney Harbour Bridge opened in 1932, it had capacity for 20,000 cars per hour.
This was remarkable planning, because the Act to build the Bridge was passed in 1922, and in 1921 there were only 28,665 cars in the whole state of New South Wales.
It’s a cool consideration for planning your own goals.
While they may not be of the same scale as building an iconic bridge (but good on you if they are!), how are your short-term decisions and actions building into long-term outcomes?
