I believe society has romanticised not giving up.
Whether it’s holding out hope for a promotion or going out on your own, there’s a sense that success is related to how much you want something.
I do believe that you have to go all-in to give yourself the best chance of achieving a goal.
But success is never a guarantee.
And if you identify too much as someone who never gives up, not only do you risk increasing the cost of failure, but you’re also sacrificing other opportunities to pursue which may be more valuable.
Here’s something that will help.
Before you decide to fully commit to a goal, consider what failure would look like.
This will give you a more objective measure of your progress and will help you make better decisions during your pursuit.
