When people reach out for career coaching, they typically want something more in their career but they’re not sure if coaching would be useful to get it.
I like to frame the value proposition of coaching in this way:
“If we ended the conversation here, what would happen? How would the conversation go if we picked it up again in 3 months? Or in 12 months?”
Projecting yourself into the future helps you come to terms with how you’re applying yourself.
You could be well on track but just need some encouragement to keep going.
Or you may be actively trying different things but not getting the results you want.
Or you could be holding on to a desire for change but not doing much about it.
So what would it mean if you keep doing what you’re doing?
