A lot of the value I provide for people in their 20s and 30s is challenging their assumptions about what’s possible in their current career.
Unfortunately, the expectations we hold around our opportunity set can be rigidly defined by our age and not by the value we can deliver.
Many in society share views about how old you should be to do certain things, and it’s easy to see why these assumptions form.
But it’s also easy to find examples of others around the same age that have gone beyond this narrowly defined opportunity set.
Why can’t you propose an equity arrangement in your early 20s if you can drive significant value for your firm?
Why can’t you be responsible for a major project in your first job?
Why can’t you be a leader who’s younger than the members on your team?
