Why did you stop?

Since 2016, I’ve had a daily habit of recording my time (I love a good spreadsheet).

I’m not recommending you do this, as we all have different methods for working our lives out – you may like to journal, or get outdoors, or take stock once a month.

I gain the most from this process when I’m not recording my time.

Because I’ve been doing this every day, it’s obvious when a day is missed (and a day every now and then is fine). But there are some gaps in the spreadsheet with weeks between recordings.

These are the periods that are most fascinating to me, because I know something shifted with my mental state or my capacity.

It really makes me ask the question – why did I stop? Which then makes me consider – do I want to start this again?

I apply this same process to my other pursuits – it’s amazing how quickly you can fall out of a groove or a pattern, and then suddenly that becomes the new norm.

It’s perfectly ok to not continue with a habit, but do you know the reason you stopped?
